The Club is sad to advise of the passing of John Parker yesterday aged 82.
John had recently been suffering from some health complications from a lung infection and hernia.
John was a 3 times premiership player for South Perth in the club’s golden era, playing in 1955/56, 1956/57 and 1959/60. John won the A Grade batting for the club in the 1954/55 and 1963/64 seasons.
John debuted for Western Australia in 1960/61 and played 30 first class matches for the state. He was made a life member of South Perth in 1974 and served as Club President for four seasons from 1985/86 – 1988/89.
John was named as captain of the South Perth CC 75th Anniversary Champion team in 2004, with 5809 runs for the Club across his career.
John was also the father of South Perth players Rob & Michael and uncle to Ian.
The Club passes on its condolences to John's Family, he will be sadly missed
